The Newest Addition!!!
Things are hoppin at the farm, I tell you what!
Today I am the proud owner of a jade ware green player piano. The color, not the actual jade ware, because that would be , well, weird. Weird and wonderful but sadly maybe impossible. Anyhoo we just moved it into the hallway today so we can vacume, oil and spruce it up but given that, it still plays!!!
It is the coolest. thing. ever.
As you can see...it needs work. I have paint, gold leaf, and fancy knobs and key tops just waiting in the wings!!!!!
Picture it! You're standing in the flower garden, sipping a beverage, waiting for the bride and groom to arrive and you hear music wafting through the garden. Why, is that a piano? You head toward the sound.
You approach the hen house which by that time, will be the renovated hen house turned catering kitchen, you peek in the large double hung windows on the garden facing porch and you see this (i think) magnificant green upright player piano tinking away.
Pay no attention to the person pumping the pedals.
I cannot wait to move this piano to the farm after the catering kitchen is finished!!!!
I have a lot of rolls coming for it, several I am really thrilled about. Perhaps I will attach sound files on the next entry! The wonderful OUR TREASURES on Etsy just gave me the best list of rolls. They went over and beyond writing down the titles. I love them!

I am a S N A I L
Painting continues.
It's taken me THIS long to figure out how to use the new blogger...sorry. At least I have a lot of things to write about.
Let's start with paint colors, shall we?
The den and kitchen walls are painted! Hoo-ray! The look we were going for was the faintest of tissue paper blues-whispers of blue, sighs of blue. Blues so faint they looked white without a sheet of typing paper held next to them.
We used the little paint pot samples of three shades, after having lived with the many many many paint chips plastered all over the walls. We painted each wall with a Very Large Swath of color. We lived with these for a week and then decided on one.
After painting all four walls with two coats, the next day it looked like we were in a swimming pool the color was so vivid.
Back to town...
We picked an even fainter color, same drill, same result.
Back to town...
Another color...DDSS
argggghhhhhhh
Back to town.
Standing there at the color chip wall, my old friend, Jim picked one at random and we went with it. Do you know what? BEAUTIFUL color. Perfect color. Fantastic color. It was blue in some light, grey in some light, white in some light, green in some light...it was great. The kitchen got painted and at last! The perfect perfect color. In the kitchen it appears blue, or white, or green depending on the light. We were happy then but imagine how happy we were after we pulled the fridge from the wall, took off the switch cover and saw the wall underneath with the original color was almost exactly the same! It couldnt be more perfect.
I have pictures somewhere. I'll add them. For now just be happy with me. Let's all hold hands and grin, shall we?

Paint
My new hobby is painting. Walls. We're choosing a mid-century colour pallet and so far the walls are looking spectacular with the woodwork and we're pretty darn happy. This glass fixture is being swapped with one that's of a more populuxe feeling.
This is more of a grey than a blueish lavender, it depends on the time of day, really. It's a nice putty grey in the morning, in the afternoon it's a lavenderish grey, a blue grey toward the evening, etc.
Just slight little updates. NO biggies yet.

We can sit!
We broke down and got rocking chairs so NOW we can sit in a chair to drink a glass of
wine and watch the sunset instead of sitting on the floor. What a concept. Sitting in a chair. You never know how much you miss sitting in a chair until you do not HAVE a chair. !

Dragonflies
For my daughter's wedding, my friend's son made metal dragonflies...They lined the path from the garden to the barn. They were spectacular. He also made small silver dragonflies for the wedding cake topper. They were equally as beautiful.
I'm sticking a flyer from ANTHONY STILINOVICH's work here. He's terrific. Does loads of different things. You might want to check him out!
